Tom Gilson, D.O. began his study of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995 at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine (UNECOM). Postgraduate honors included the Sewall Scholarship, awarded by a committee of didactic professors and medical students, and the Jim Jealous Award for Excellence in Manipulation, awarded by the clinical faculty.
Dr. Gilson completed a rotating internship in medicine at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, Massachusetts, and completed a residency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). He has been practicing in the Portland area since 2002. He is board certified in Osteopathic Manual Medicine and has consulting privileges at Mercy Hospital.
In addition to his full time practice he is involved in teaching Osteopathic skills, principles and philosophy to both medical students and physicians. He is a clinical professor of Osteopathic Manual Medicine for UNECOM, MSUCOM, and Iowa COM. He volunteers at the Portland Osteopathic Children’s Clinic. He lives in Topsham, Maine with his wife and two children.
